Car Seat Safety Class

Diaper Drive

Savor Life, a pro-life club at University of Mobile, held a diaper drive for our Baby Boutique. The Baby Boutique is filled with baby items that are donated by individuals in the community. Through our Earn While You Learn program our clients learn about taking care of themselves and their babies and earn "Mommy Bucks" that they can then use in the Baby Boutique to "purchase" the items such as the diapers that were collected by Savor Life.

If you would like to host a diaper drive or baby shower for the Women's Resource Center you may call one of our centers for more information. 251-473-4000 (Mobile) or 251-675-0911 (Saraland).

Ashlee's Baby Shower

Ashlee Pearce is a passionate, dedicated volunteer of the Women's Resource Center. After two boys and  being diagnosed with a heart condition she believed she would not have another child. Last year Ashlee was healed and is now due with a baby girl in February. This past Saturday we held a shower to celebrate this blessing.

In Memory of Millie

At First Baptist Church Satsuma there is a group of women that do a very special thing. They are called Helping Hands. These women carefully select fabrics to wash, iron, and cut. The Helping Hands Ministry then sews, embroiders, crochets and quilts baby items for the Baby Boutique in our Saraland Women's Resource Center. These items have blessed so many new mothers and their children.

Sets that were cut out by Millie, sewn by Healping Hands, and donated to the Women's Resource Center in Saraland

Recently Mrs. Mildrege "Millie" Langley, a member of Helping Hands, passed away. Millie Langley leaves a long legacy. Her family came first, helping in every event her three children and recently her grandchildren were involved in. She has sewn many prom dresses and even Azalea Trail Maid dresses through the years. A special project Millie worked with for the past three years is Helping Hands. Millie has cut out most all of the blankets, bibs and burp cloth sets the group has made, the count in 2009 was 167 sets. Her death November 1st leaves a big hole in many lives. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Langley, her three children and several grandchildren.

High School Service Group Raises Awareness

Brittany Dodge, along with her service group, from Mary G Montgomery High School (MGM) hosted a "Backwards Beauty Pageant" to raise awareness and funds for Sav A Life. The group did a great job and we are so thankful to see high school students getting involved!

The Service Group and Heather (Sav A Life's Saraland Receptionist) as a judge for the pageant

Brittany gave a moving testimony about how she feels that if it weren't for places like Sav A Life that she nor her mom, Rhonda Dodge would be here. Rhonda Dodge's birth mother was young and frightened when she found herself with child. She choose life and placed Rhonda for adoption. It is amazing to see the legacy that action has created.

Walk For Life Senegal

On Saturday 23rd our Dauphin Way Baptist Church Senegal Mission Team commemorated the Walk For Life in a Wolof Village south of Kaolack , Senegal .

This mother and big sister are carrying their daughter/little sister Wolof style. Keeps both hands free for the difficult daily labor of a Wolof woman. Most Wolof families have at least two wives, and up to four wives.

Children are seen as a gift from God. The little girl is about 8 years old and will carry her little sister all day long as she does her share of the family chores. Everyone works to eke out a daily living for the family.
